Therapy Services Provided

LGBTQIA+ folks have their own unique experiences, worldview, and therapeutic needs. The last thing you want when coming into therapy is to have to explain your queer experience to a straight person. As a person who identifies as queer, I get it.
-
About 50% of my clients identify as trans and/or nonbinary/GNC. I work with clients to explore their gender in a way that is validating and expansive. I can also write letters for gender-affirming surgeries and other medical interventions.

I believe many mental health concerns stem from “the inside not matching the outside”. This means that you may be living and presenting one way, but have a view of yourself that is completely different (or non-existent, for some). We work together to explore who you are, and help you build confidence to be “you” inside and out.
-
Changes in your life, no matter how big or small, can make it difficult to continue “business as usual”. Therapy is a great space to take a breath, regain your footing, and chart a new course forward.

Many folks struggle to feel understood, manage tasks/relationships, and experience their emotions. For those that are neurodiverse, these daily challenges can feel debilitating. Together, we can find systems that work with your brain, not against it.

This phase of life has challenges at every turn; sometimes, all you need is a place to talk about them. We can explore the obstacles you currently face (whether it be school, family, friends, dating, social pressures, existential dread, or any other source of stress) and find ways to address them.

Anxiety has a funny way of making you believe it’s in control. Using techniques that work with your thoughts, your physical experiences, and your self-concept, we can loosen the grip anxiety has on your life.
A Typical Session
The Basics
Our time together usually includes the following: a “check-in” on the previous 1-2 weeks, setting a roadmap for the session, and diving in! We may spend the entire time processing recent events in your life, focus on a particular goal, or go completely off script. The time is yours to use as you see fit. At the end of our 55 minutes, we will make sure you are feeling alright to leave and continue with your day. Any logistical concerns (i.e. scheduling, payment issues, insurance snafus, etcetra) will also be reserved for the end of the session.
What to Expect from Me
I show up as my most authentic self while maintaining professional boundaries and adhering to ethical standards. Essentially, this means I am not a “blank slate”. I display my emotions, crack jokes (when appropriate), and incorporate my everyday personality. I find that being myself in session permits you to do the same.
