Providing effective and affirming therapy for clients in southeastern Wisconsin
Alex Cashmer, MS, LPC
So you’re looking to talk to someone…
Hi, I’m Alex (she/her). I specialize in working with folks experiencing identity questions, life transitions, anxiety, depression, and difficulties related to neurodiversity. My passion lies in working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community, but my clients ultimately come from all different identities and backgrounds.
I use a combination of person-centered, feminist, and strengths-based approaches. In practice, this means that I look at both you and all of the surrounding factors that may be affecting you. Typical therapy looks at the client and tries to find the “problem” inside of them. I work with you to develop a complete view of your life and create systems, tools, and a mindset that help you be the best self within your unique situation.
Basically, if you are trying to figure yourself out, hope to improve your relationships, and/or want to feel like your best self — you’ve landed in the right place.
A bit about me
I received my Master’s in Professional Counseling with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mount Mary University in Milwaukee, WI. I am licensed in the State of Wisconsin as an LPC, and have been practicing as a therapist since 2023. I received a trauma certification while in my master’s program and incorporate that knowledge into my work with each client. I hope to pursue further education in EMDR and/or brainspotting
After I take my “therapist hat” off, you can expect to find me reading, exploring Milwaukee with my friends/partner, or trying to keep my cats out of trouble. I also love taking care of my plants, exploring new restaurants, and attending the many summer festivals across Milwaukee. My guilty pleasures are watching purposely bad movies and having one too many iced coffees each day.
